Techniques We Love
Here is a description of what you can expect from our services. These techniques are incorporated in your session.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by trained healthcare professionals, to treat muscle pain, tightness, and dysfunction. It involves the insertion of thin, solid needles into specific trigger points or areas of muscle tension to stimulate a healing response. The insertion of the needle can elicit a local twitch response, release tension in the muscle and promote relaxation. Dry needling is often used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan to address musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. This modality is implemented in Ortho Care, TMJ release, and Scar Release treatments.
Dry Cupping
Also referred to as vacuum therapy, this technique involves plastic or silicone cups that create a vacuum effect on the tissue where applied. This results in a lifting of the tissue, allowing for improved blood and lymphatic flow to the underlying tissue. Additionally, this tractioning of the tissue signals the nervous system to reset these overly tight fascia and muscle fibers. At Salt Bodywork and Movement, dry cupping is applied in both static and dynamic (moving) techniques, and when appropriate, can be used in conjunction with other modalities such as passive stretching, to increase the desired therapeutic effect. Dry cupping is implemented in Ortho Care, TMJ release, and Scar Release treatments and can be included at no additional cost to a therapeutic massage.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
IASTM- an acronym for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, this non-invasive soft tissue technique addresses facial restriction using a flat, metal tool with beveled edge. IASTM is very effective on tendinopathies, scar tissue restriction (think post-surgical healed incision), and achey joints. This modality is implemented in Ortho Care, TMJ release, and Scar Release treatments.
Myofascial release
Myofascial release is a therapeutic technique addressing the fascia, dense connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and organs. It aims to relieve pain, enhance mobility, and restore function by releasing tension and restrictions within the fascial system. The fascia, comprised of collagen fibers, offers structural support and flexibility to the body. However, factors like injury, overuse, or poor posture can lead to tightness, discomfort, and limited movement. Through hands-on methods, myofascial release targets specific areas of tension or restriction within the fascia to alleviate these issues. This modality is implemented in Ortho Care, TMJ release, and Scar Release treatments.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage involves hands-on manipulation of soft tissues to relax muscles, improve circulation, and enhance well-being. Techniques like Swedish massage and trigger point therapy target specific areas of tension. This can release tension, increase flexibility, and reduce pain. Beyond physical benefits, it can also reduce stress and improve mental health. Often part of a holistic wellness regimen, massage therapy is customizable and suitable for all ages and fitness levels, offering a natural way to promote healing and relaxation. During my massage therapy sessions, my aim is to regulate the nervous system, restore function, and reduce pain.
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation
PNF is a therapy used in rehab to improve motor function and neuromuscular control. It involves coordinated muscle stretching, contraction, and relaxation. It activates proprioceptors to boost body awareness and enhance muscle response.
